On Wednesday October 1st Mr Zamparo’s Grade 11 Biology class visited the Cell and Systems Biology Imaging Facility at the University of Toronto. The students had a 45 minute tour of the facility, led by Dr.’s Henry Hong and Audrey Darabie, during which they saw state-of-the-art instruments including a confocal microscope, a spectral confocal microscope, a spinning disk confocal microscope, a transmission electron microscope, a scanning electron microscope, an inverted fluorescence microscope, and a stereofluorescence microscope.

The Grade 11 Biology class is currently studying early microscopists and cytological studies which led to our understanding of cell division, reproduction and heredity.
